Leslie Nelson is a seasoned private equity and energy executive with over 25 years of global business experience spanning finance, corporate leadership, infrastructure investment, and entrepreneurship. A British citizen of Ghanaian heritage, he has held senior roles in both the public and private sectors, including more than 15 years driving strategic growth and energy development across Africa. Leslie is the Founder of an Africa-focused Energy Transition Development platform dedicated to decarbonization and expanding affordable power access across the continent. In 2023, this platform entered a joint venture with Africa’s largest private equity and investment management firm, underscoring his ability to build high-impact partnerships. Previously, he served as Managing Director for Africa and a member of the Global Management Team at New Fortress Energy (NASDAQ: NFE), where he contributed to the company’s successful IPO in 2019. Prior to that, Leslie spent 16 years at General Electric (GE), where he led major power and infrastructure initiatives across Africa. He was CEO for GE Africa’s $1B Power Business and Country CEO for GE in Ghana, overseeing oil and gas, power, healthcare, and aviation operations. He also held senior finance roles in New York, including Vice President in GE Capital’s Private Equity division. Earlier in his career, Leslie worked in investment banking at Merrill Lynch and UBS. He has served on numerous boards and advisory groups including Helios Energy Infrastructure Partners (London), Baker Hughes Ghana Ltd (Vice Chairperson), and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Accra. With a background that bridges continents and sectors, Leslie brings a rare blend of financial acumen, operational leadership, and strategic vision to every venture he leads.
